Soapbox Science

Brussels, 26.06.2021

Soapbox Science is an initiative to promote women in science, while allowing the general public to get an insight into the cutting-edge research done in all fields of science in an accessible and entertaining manner. Originally from the UK, the initiative has now spread internationally and Soapbox Science events can be found all over the world.

Instead of speaking in a lecture theatre, researchers introduce their research in a public space to passers-by, literally from a soapbox, allowing for close interaction and an open discussion with anyone who stops to listen.

I was selected as one of 12 speakers at the 2021 event in Brussels, the first live Soapbox Science event ever held in Belgium. You can see a short documentary about the event, as well as one focused on my presentation about the history of geometry from the old Greeks to modern geometry on curved spaces below.

The videos are predominantly in Dutch and French, but English subtitles are provided.
